Hello, darlings! I’m Kira, the writer and bright ideas behind this blog, Darling Little Dwelling. I live with my handsome boyfriend fiancé, Chris, who is the brawn (and proofreader) behind all my crazy ideas, and my two lovely daughters, Elsie and Norah.

In October 2016, I became a first time homeowner all by myself, and fell in love with the home I purchased. I had always rented previously, and was very limited to things I could do to the spaces I occupied. As a person who loves DIY, sometimes this could be totally frustrating. Now, with my own home as my canvas, I am super excited to finally start diving into DIY projects that I find challenging, interesting, or sometimes just necessary.

A little bit more about me…

I’m a mom of two amazing little girls, but there is so much more that defines me. I have my Associate degree in Graphic Design, and in 2015 I finally completed my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communications from Northern Michigan University. Anyone who knows me personally will tell you that one of the proudest moments of my life was being able to hug my two daughters after they watched me receive my Bachelor degree that I spent a year and a half working so hard to complete.

They were kind of grumpy sitting through my 2 hour graduation ceremony lol.

During the day, I work as a front end web developer at a creative firm in Green Bay, WI, and it is my dream job! Ever since I started learning about web development, it became something that I was so passionate about learning. I really enjoy the challenge of learning new coding languages and working with code, and when you combine all of those languages together to develop a beautiful, functioning website, it makes my insides warm and fuzzy 🙂

In a funny way, I think home improvement is very similar. You combine all these tools and supplies together, and it can sometimes be very challenging and a lot of hard work, but in the end it pays off when you have your finished project! I find that blogging compliments my professional interests as a web developer, and allows me to combine it with my passion for home improvement.

A little more about the blog…

I started this blog for a few different reasons. First, to serve as my digital journey of all the hard work and energy I put into my first home. I think it would be cool to look back in a few years and see how much has changed about this house that I love so much, and be able to feel pride about all that I was able to accomplish. Secondly, my hope is that other people will find this blog as a motivation to start their own projects, or provide inspiration for a project that they aren’t sure how to go about doing quite yet. Personally speaking, I do a lot of research before I begin with my projects, so hopefully this blog will be a resource to someone else. Lastly, this blog is to serve as my kick in the butt to keep working on projects. It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily routine, and sometimes making excuses or putting things off is tempting. I’m hoping this blog will keep me on track and motivate me!

I’m so glad you took the time to read my blog. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, or would like your project featured on my blog!
